Trevor Lund was a senior pastor of an established church at the age of 25. Three years before when he first went to the church as the youth leader going through seminary people told him, “They’ll eat you up.” Turns out he was a little chewy. Kazandme2010 300x219 The Author

When the senior pastor retired, the church took a chance on his untested experience and about the same time his daughter was born…and his wife Karen had the highest platelet count and lowest blood pressure on record for someone who didn’t go into a comma. Graduating school, new child, new job, new house, near death…yes there was a little stress.

Over the next seven years, the straight-up learning curve slowly was exchanged for a clear expectation of what would happen next.

The church was out of debt and celebrated the burning of the mortgage. There were close to eighty baptisms and amazing stories of changed lives. Some said even his preaching got better.

He was sitting on national and international boards, responsible for 19 pastors and missionaries, and the first point of contact for 68 other pastors and churches. He was called in to mediate painful situations in churches and ministries. He spoke at national conventions and chaired the planning of an International convention.

And slowly God called Karen and him to lay down everything and step out of the safety of their boat – without any clear reason except obedience. They were asked to lay their family, friends, finances and futures on the altar. They announced their resignation and made plans to follow the call to New Zealand.

A month later Trevor’s dad was diagnosed with Bulbar ALS and was only given a few months to live.

Their time in New Zealand, how they dealt with his father’s death, the inability to find gainful employment, the rejection of some friends, the lowered estimation of others, the disappointment of not experiencing the promises of God in this life, the stress it led to in their marriage, the questions, the complaints, and the lessons of hope are woven into the pages of “Hope In Transition.”

“Sometimes,” Trevor says, “all I can say is ‘I’m glad the story is not yet done being written.’”

Learn from Scripture the lessons Trevor and Karen have learned the hard way. Since the tools they’ve learned work for them, those same tools will help you to “Hope in Transition.”
